Sound Massage

“We should not pretend to understand the world only by the intellect; we comprehend it just as much by feeling.”

— C.G. Jung

Sound Massage

A sound massage at Concordia is not a massage in the usual sense of the word. We will be using the frequencies and vibrational energy of a selection of Tibetan singing bowls and a variety of tuning forks to help restore vibrational coherence and balance to your body and spirit in a way that is difficult to describe in words. It's about feeling and not thinking. About being and not doing. Much of the session is quiet whilst we listen carefully and attempt to discern the messages from your body. No clothing is removed and no oils are used. Some of the somatic clearing techniques used in the Indian Head massage are carried over into these treatments. Reiki is very likely to be used quite extensively. A gentle, non-intrusive physical massage of the occiput, spinal vertebrae and sacrum help to condition the body and relax the muscles in preparation for the sound work. However, the focus of the treatments is the use of sound healing instruments on the body. The overall objective is to identify areas where there may be resistance and dissonance and to induce a deep sense of nurture and healing.
